Glad To Be Unhappy - Paul Desmond (1964)

Full disclosure: Another week on the road, which means lots of listening time but shorter write-ups after I’m back home several days later

Desmond isn’t necessarily my favorite sax player (that’s not even close), but he’s probably the sound and tone I like the best of all the jazz sax I’ve heard. He’s also notable for writing and playing on what is possibly the most recognizable tune in jazz history

This is a laid back album of songbook tunes featuring Jim Hall on guitar along with Desmond’s otherworldly calmness.
