I Advance Masked - Andy Summers & Robert Fripp (1982)

King Crimson mastermind Fripp (o_O O_o) and the Police guitarist had been friends since they were both gigging around the same scene as youngsters. They collaborated on this while both were on breaks from their day job bands.

This is a pretty even collab, with a balance of big Fripp-y ideas and the more pop-minded textures that likely came from one of 80s pop’s most successful guitarists.

Tracks I Liked

China - Yellow Leader - some nice stacking of guitar figures where both stay distinct.

New Marimba - a tight arpeggio laid down under some furious but still light-sounding vamping.
