Recap - Thoughtful 2023

I’m trying to find a better way to divide up my attention that isn’t so rigid. If I have a “country” playlist, then where do i put a singer-songwriter who’s fairly country-adjacent? electronic music might have a beat or might not. Instead of subdividing into 50 different playlists, I tried to find a way to generally capture the mood i see the music fitting in.

“Thoughtful” is, more or less, music with lyrics that tell a story. Lots of the music on other lists will do that, but they’ll have an overarching feel of making you dance or bob your head or punch the guy in line in front of you.

• Mountain Goats - love those guys. They played this one when I saw them several months before the album came out, but I didn’t know their catalog well enough to realize it was as-yet-unreleased
• Bad Bunny - really into this record
• Dylan LeBlanc - chill and spooky
