Merriweather Post Pavilion - Animal Collective (2009)

I think I see what these guys are doing, and why people are into it. As someone who enjoys sonic detail, though, it’s a hard sell for me.

There are some great melodies and harmonies, some great beats and song structures. But it’s all encased in a fuzzy cacophony.

I guess the thing that keeps me from loving it is that when everything is in the foreground, nothing is. There’s so much squall that what would have been quite interesting details are barely noticable.

But is an interesting experience. I’ll give it that.
