Violent Sleep Of Reason - Meshuggah (2016)
A little game i like to play when i look at AOY’s new release page: based on the cover image, is it a metal record, a rap record, a country record, or something else?
Even if I didn’t know Meshuggah very well, this is a metal AF album cover.
They run in lockstep (recording live-in-the-room, no less) through absolute mayhem that is often syncopated to the point of being nearly arhythmic. Then it whips back into shape and charges onward.
Tomas Haake is a fantastic drummer, but there are no weak links in this band.
