Three months in 1977: Released Oct 28. Skipped in the intervening weeks were Meatloaf’s Bat Out Of Hell, cut for space, and The Sex Pistols’ Never Mind The Bullocks, cut because they are a bunch of gormless hacks who will get real estate here only over my dead body.

We Will Rock You and We are the Champions are two of Queen’s three most recognizable songs. The massive songs here, front-loaded, overshadow a whole album of diverse and interesting sounds.

All Dead All Dead and Get Down Make Love are good deep cuts from this one.

I’d like the proto-hardcore rush of Sheer Heart Attack better if the feedback-guitar histrionics at the end didn’t make my skin crawl.
