Escapades - The Omnific (2021)
A bass / bass / drums prog trio from Australia. In case there wasn’t enough bass for you, the opening track features Polyphia’s bassist as well.
It’s a distinctive sound, for sure. Both bassists play in the upper register at times, with smooth distortion, so that they sound like punchy guitars. There are plenty of the fun polyrhythmic figures and time signature wonkery that you might expect from anything you’d put the “prog” label on.
It’s overall very melodic and doesn’t get lost in complexity.
