The Forest Is The Path - Snow Patrol (2024)
modern times: a week of some recent releases (ok this came out last September, I think, but I was slow to get to it)
There’s nothing about Snow Patrol that stands out, except that they’ve been working at a high level for more than 20 years.
They continue to push their emotional indie-rock-for-the-stadium sound into new territory with modern production and sensibilities.
The band is in an interesting place: still doing music that sounds similar to a hundred bands of the late aughts, but still doing good work and keeping people’s interest. Late aughts? Hell, it’s not that far off of Simple Minds in the 80s or Fleetwood Mac in the 70s, but it’s a well-proven formula and Snow Patrol is very good at it.
Tracks I Liked
The Beginning - a great tune
Your Heart Home - shout-along anthem
Hold Me In The Fire - a little more aggressive than the others, but only enough to make the payoff a little louder. Good enough that you can pretend it’s not a total knock-off of U2’s Beautiful Day
