Shabooh Shoobah - INXS (1982)
I often mention bands that seem remarkable for showing up seemingly out of nowhere with a distinctive sound and a clear idea of what they want to do with it. So it’s only fair to mention that not all highly successful bands have that quick start.
This is the third of four initial INXS records that show the band’s talents, but never really do anything to stick in your head. They ape the popular sounds of 1982 (a little Duran Duran, a little Joy Division, a little Men At Work) without really finding a lane.
They’d figure it out in a couple years, but you can’t really blame them for not being instantly brilliant. Most of us aren’t.
