Lovelyville - Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 (1991)

Another brief pre-digital music strategy was mail-ordering 7” singles from bands I had never heard of based on the recommendations of… well, of the catalogs and newsletters who were selling them to me.

My long lost collection of 45s contained these guys along with Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments, The Denison / Kimball Trio, and a local Sioux Falls band called Floodplain that I think never made the transition to digital.

Anyway, this is lo-fi garage psych that isn’t really good as such, but is different than the average record you’re likely to put on.

Tracks I Liked

Nail in The Head - goes from something like Mission Of Burma to something like Sonic Youth playing the 60s Batman theme.

Green Eyed Lady - a wonderfully enshittified cover of the 1970 Sugarloaf tune

Motorin’ Flarey Jenkins - a pretty legit instrumental banger
