We Were Never Here - Epic45 (2020)

The physical release came with a 48-page photography book documenting “familiar suburban and semi-rural ‘nowhere places’ that exist between large towns and cities”, the kind of liminal space I’m a bit obsessed with. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a digital version of the photo part of the project.

Even without that part, the music is quite good. There’s a liminal, “in between” sort of feel to a lot of this. It’s spare and beautiful, while occasionally being spooky outright hostile.

There’s a sense of exploring abandoned space throughout here that I find wonderful.
