Hey Love - Rotary Connection (1971)

Marshall Chess was the son of Chess Records founder Leonard Chess. He started a spin-off label where he intended to feature less blues and more modern soul.

The main product was the heavily psychedelic soul sound of Rotary Connection, featuring some future Chicago blues and soul mainstays.

As a side note that I just learned today, the core musicians of Rotary Connection were the psych band I didn’t have much good to say about when they sat a session with Howlin’ Wolf for the elder Chess’ label.

Anyway, this is fun psych soul. If you’re into 5th Dimension or early 70s Motown or soul-based musicals like Hair or Jesus Christ Superstar, you’ll dig this.
