Odessey And Oracle - The Zombies (1968)

I was unable to determine if the misspelling of “odyssey” as the title was intentional or just the product of a weird error that nobody noticed.

You probably know two songs by The Zombies: their 1964 hit She’s Not There and the last track here, Time Of The Season.

Rod Argent was a very good rock organist who led the band in some baroque psych rock that was occasionally brilliant but often not highly original.

The band had already broken up by the time Time Of The Season became their second giant hit. Argent would shortly go on to form another band, which he creatively named Argent.

The lack of actual Zombies after they had that big hit led to not one, but two impostor bands touring the States for some time. I mention it partly because it’s a wild story, and partly because the company that perpetrated the fake Zombies tours was also management for ? and The Mysterians.
