Mood Swings - Marcus King (2025)
A great record of modern, bluesy psych-soul from a rising star.
I didn’t know anything about King but I found this great interview where he talks about his mental health struggles, his experience with producer Rick Rubin, and writing songs on Bob Dylan’s old tour bus.
He seems like a really interesting and honest cat. He finds a great balance between his smoky voice and his lyrical guitar lines. There’s plenty else in these songs. It’s a great set all the way around.
