The Heads were never interested in playing it safe. Each album was more daring and expectation-defying than the last. So it might have seemed odd to do a concert documentary film and album. But the band certainly didn’t just play the hits and re-hash the old sounds.
Maybe it’s just me, but this album manages to feature most of my favorite TH songs, in versions different enough from their originals to make them worth hearing.
Come for the giant suit, stay for the wild and nerdy world / funk / punk / pop jam.
