Disco Jazz - Rupa (1982)

ideated from: the oddest stuff I could find from a random album list generator

This is… look, I’m not gonna lie: it’s not great. But it is interesting. She apparently was a more traditional singer of Bengali music who connected with a pair of brothers with western connections who produced this semi-precious gem.

It was lost to history (even her son didn’t know she’d made a record. sound familiar?) until it showed up on the soundtrack to a 2012 Indian film called Miss Lovely that played at Cannes.

It’s fun and got my feet moving, which is what disco is always good at. Just because it’s not great doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy it.
