Aquemini - Outkast (1998)

There’s a ton of great hip hop, and a lot of it from Atlanta. But even with all that, Outkast were something special. And even among Outkast’s catalog, this one is a standout.

The amazing flow, the live instrumentation, the mix of future beats and old-timey Americana textures. There’s really nothing about this record that isn’t fantastic. It was a treat to listen to again.

Tracks I Liked

Rosa Parks - the flow just doesn’t stop

Slump - non-stop funky fun

Chonkyfire - buzzy synths and a Eurhythmics beat.
