801 Live - The 801 (1976)

Spotify lists this under Phil Manzanara’s name, which is fair enough. The Roxy Music guitarist put together a group to play a few live gigs that ended up being recorded. It’s worth mentioning that this little gathering also includes Brian Eno, a Roxy bandmate and frequent collaborator who practically deserves his own tag in this space by now. It also features Fusion jazz drummer Simon Phillips.

You get some great instrumental music, a couple of Eno originals (from the 70s art / glam records that Manzanara played on), and excellent covers of the Beatles and the Kinks.

An excellent band has a lot of fun jamming out. A great little record.
