Planetary Clairvoyance - Tomb Mold (2019)
Ideated from: things I missed and only picked up on when they made somebody else’s best-of-the-year lists.
I’ve only recently come to appreciate the power and glory of modern death metal. I’d been more into the black end of the spectrum, but lately I’ve really found a way into the jittery aggression of a lot of modern death-adjacent bands.
This one has a few doses of black metal firehose blasts, but also drives some serious riffs and jagged rhythms, and even the occasional high-register guitar solo to make this more than just another death metal record.
Tracks I Liked
Planetary Clairvoyance - a non-stop pummeliing with enough odd angles to stay so very engaging.
Accelerative Phenomenae - The hits just keep coming.
