White Men Are Black Men Too - Young Fathers (2015)
_Ideated from: March of years past. Also on the March 2015 list: Courtney Barnett, Jaga Jazzist, and this one little Kendrick record of which you might have heard.
Some music is truly uncategorizable. Young Fathers doesn’t care much about genre. They have their own unique style and they’ve proven it four times now (I haven’t gotten to it yet, but coincidentally I’m writing this just a couple weeks after Heavy Heavy dropped).
This is their second record: a nasty, scowling, rumbling piece of street smart fuzz rock.
Tracks I Liked
Shame - Something to get your feet moving
27 - a great laid-back organ tune suddenly turns a corner into a shout-along pop gem
Old Rock n Roll - urgent and gritty
Liberated - hard-driving piano-riff rock
