Modern Life Is Rubbish - Blur (1993)

I use the phrase “modern life is rubbish” to describe a lot of disillusionment with the state of the world. I often don’t think about where (I think) it originated, the great Damon Albarn.

Albarn and Blur (o_O) probably didn’t start the concept of Britpop, but this album went a long way to defining what it was: new and exciting rock n roll that borrows heavily from the past but but builds it into something modern and distinctive.

Tracks I Liked

For Tomorrow - could easily be mistaken for a 70s Bowie song, but is not just a cheap knockoff

Chemical World - more conventional alt-rock to keep the yanks interested.

Oily Water - new-psych goodness
