Drums And Wires - XTC (1979)
XTC’s third record (all three released in less than 18 months) started to move away from the jagged and dissonant punk they started out with into more pop structures.
It suited them well, and we started to see what a powerhouse of lyrics and songcraft they had in Andy Partridge and his partner/foil, Colin Moulding.
An album full of fun songs that hit hard in unexpected ways.
Tracks I Liked
Making Plans For Nigel - one of their most recognizable songs
Helicopter - not famous, but a solid deep cut
Life Begins At The Hop - originally a single but added to the US release of this record. Make sure you find a version with this included.
