Perspectives - Third Coast Percussion (2022)
Jlin (o_O O_o) is a favorite of mine, but I missed that she composed a piece for this excellent percussion ensemble.
They are a serious modern classical group. Why? Philip Glass. just sayin.
Jlin’s piece is paired with one by Danny Elfman, and I love how the group gets an Elfman-like sound (spooky and ethereal) from the Elfman piece and a Jlin sound (thundering bass notes, frenetic polyrhythmic trap high end) out of the Jlin piece.
BONUS: just released–and I suppose the reason this release from last year came up–is Jlin’s own rendering of Perspectives
