I love me some rock n roll as much as the next guy. There were plenty of bands doing it well.

• Serene Demon - Art D’ecco - Just recently discovered but I will definitely be going back to it.

• Flamingo Tower - Monde UFO - If you crossed Elephant Six with the X-Files? I dunno but it’s great.

• Nothing - Darkside - part rock, part dance

• Moisturizer - Wet Leg - This is a big leap forward for them

• Getting Killed - Geese - Geese seem to be seen generally as the second coming of rock, and I’m not sure I agree. But it is a solid record that you don’t have to be versed in “boys with guitars” music to like

• Oh Brother - Dawes - an unfortunately well-kept secret
